Therapy for Teens
“What’s the greater risk? Letting go of what people think – or letting go of how I feel, what I believe, and who I am?”
Brené Brown
Let’s face it, being a teenager is hard. The teenage years are filled with all kinds of transitions: physically, emotionally, hormonally, and socially. The teenage years can be some that we look back on as adults filled with positive memories, or some of the hardest in your life. Add in today’s age of social media, and teens face even more challenges than what we, Millenials, had to face in our adolescence. The constant pressure to measure up to what is seen online and around, or the internal high expectations placed on themselves, can leave teenagers feeling overwhelmed and anxious. All of this can have a negative impact, leading teens to struggle with even simple tasks in daily functioning.
That is where therapy comes in. Together as a treatment team, we can address feelings, factors leading into emotions, learn and strengthen skills, and fight through the every day stress and pressures our teens are facing.
